Last updated September 2026. Cartoondle (and its sister game, Unscramble) is a small, independently-run project — this page explains in plain language what it stores, what it doesn't, and why. Both games follow the exact same rules below.
Your guesses, streak, and personal stats live in your browser's localStorage — never sent to us or anyone else. Clearing your browser data (or switching browsers/devices) resets them, since there's no account system to sync them elsewhere. A light/dark theme preference is stored the same way.
Each day's aggregate results — how many people played, how many solved it, and in how many guesses — are stored so the "average tries" and "solve rate" numbers can be shown to everyone. This is a running count, not a per-person record: we don't know which browser contributed which result, and there's nothing there that identifies you.
If you use the Feedback form, your message (and your email, only if you choose to include one) is stored so we can read and respond to it. We don't use it for anything else, and we don't share it with third parties.
Cartoondle doesn't have user accounts, doesn't ask you to sign in, and never collects payment information — there's nothing to buy.
Cartoondle may show ads served by Google AdSense to help cover the cost of running the site. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technology to show ads based on your visits here and other sites. You can see or opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings or, more broadly, at aboutads.info.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they use. It's designed to work without tracking cookies and doesn't build a profile of individual visitors.
Show artwork comes from TMDB, and rating/popularity data is sourced from OMDb and Wikipedia. These power the game's content — they don't receive any information about you as a player.
Cartoondle doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Ads are served through Google's standard policies, which include protections for child-directed content.
Reach out anytime through the Feedback tab, or email cartoondle.net@gmail.com.
