About Cartoondle

Cartoondle is a free daily guessing game for people who grew up on animated TV — Saturday-morning blocks, after-school lineups, and everything in between. It's a small, independently run project.

The games

Cartoondle is a daily cartoon puzzle in the style of Wordle. A mystery show is chosen each day, and every guess you make reveals how close that show is to the answer across eight clues: the network or programming block it's most associated with, the country that produced it, the year it debuted, how many seasons it ran, its genres, whether it's still running, its IMDb rating, and a 0–100 popularity score. Green means a match, yellow means close, red means a miss, and arrows tell you whether the answer is higher or lower. Most days it takes a handful of guesses; some take all ten.

Cartoondle Unscramble is the sister game. Instead of attributes, you get one still frame from an episode of the day's show, heavily blurred and pixelated, and it gets a little clearer with every guess. You have eight guesses before the picture is fully clear. See How to play for the full rules of both.

Both games have an Archive, so if you miss a day you can go back and play any past puzzle. Archive runs are for fun — they never change the stats for that day.

How the daily puzzle is chosen

There's no server deciding each morning and no randomness at play time. Every calendar date maps to one show through a fixed formula, so the same date always gives the same puzzle — which is what lets the Archive and shared results make sense. The puzzle changes at midnight Mountain Time for everyone at once, so everyone in the world is working on the same show at the same moment. The two games use different formulas, so the answer to one never gives away the other.

Where the show data comes from

The roster covers several hundred animated series, from nostalgic classics to modern favorites. Each show is entered by hand with its network, country, debut year, season count, genres, and status. Network is the single channel or programming block most fans associate with the show — Toonami, Kids' WB, Fox Kids, and Disney Afternoon count as networks of their own.

This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Show names, logos, and artwork belong to their respective owners and are used here only to identify the shows.

How accurate is it?

Honestly: mostly, but not perfectly. Debut years and networks for long-finished shows are very reliable. Season counts are the weakest field, especially for shows that are still airing or that are counted differently by different sources. The game shows a "data as of" note for that reason. If you spot something wrong, please tell us — corrections are one of the most useful things players can send.
